What's the difference between a topical and a transdermal product? In basic speak, a topical sits relatively a-top the skin, with limited penetration through the upper layers. A transdermal has the ability to penetrate through deeper layers of the skin, reaching the blood stream delivery system for a broader range of benefit, whether it be application for medicines, pain relief, or for the healing and rejuvenating properties of skincare.

There is still so much research being done on this fascinating topic, which is great, especially if quality product and how they work matters to you. Reading product labels to make smart product selections can be a challenge, too, especially if you care to know how it will work WITH your skin, not just on it.

First, let me clear up a few misconceptions: I recently observed a talk on the subject of transdermal penetration, and it was mentioned that a "driver" oil was needed to assist in this transdermal effect. This is not true. Referring to any oil or element as a "driver" would suggest that it can be applied on top of an other product, and therefore push or drive it into the skin. It just doesn't work that way.

Carrier oils have been referenced in much the same way. While the term is more accurate as it can loosely describe a blending or mixing of ingredients which can in turn aid in penetration of product through the skin and its layers, it is more complicating than that. Keep in mind, the combination of oils matter here, and not all oils work well together, or create a synergistic means of penetration.

A carrier oil is usually a plant-based oil extracted from a nut or a seed used to moisturize and heal the skin. It can be used alone or in combination with other oils to find just the right formula for your skin type. High quality essential oils are often added to carrier oils to provide specific therapeutic effects for the skin.

These carrier oils are a wonderful way to keep your skin looking healthy and hydrated because they give your skin the healthy oils it wants. Natural oils (because they do not contain any added fillers or chemicals) absorb easily into the skin, protecting the skin’s lipid barrier and preventing moisture from evaporating out of the skin.

Without going rogue science on you, generally speaking one oil alone is just that, the strength and power of one. If you want truly potent products that work WITH your skin, not just on your skin, you need complex ingredients that work exceptionally well together. It's complicating, which is why we work with labs that know their skincare!

Great carrier oils will assist to penetrate vitamins, minerals, and other botanical oils more deeply into the skin layers, including CBD. That said, some oils do a better job than others, such as oils from trees and bark in particular. Particle size of these oils also matters a great deal where penetration is concerned.

This is why we go above and beyond, sourcing the finest ingredients, starting with a phytocannabinoid-rich, HIGH BIOAVAILABLE NANO-EMULSION CBD. If you're hoping for transdermal, this matters.

The power of ingredients. Complex & Potent, Powerful & Purposeful.

Looks good, right? It is. Each ingredient offers a value, but we've highlighted a few that play a deeper role! While they all work wonders together, some just further strengthen the overall ability to break the barriers of great skincare by offering higher bioavailability and deeper penetration, acting as permeability enhancement agents

Let's talk about a few of those ingredients.

It is healing and moisturizing for all skin types. Even though it looks and feels just like an oil, it is actually a liquid wax ester made from expeller-pressed jojoba seeds. Jojoba oil is very similar to the sebum in human skin, and the oil can dissolve sebum and carry ingredients deep into the skin. It is very light-weight absorbs quickly into the skin.  It also has anti-inflammatory properties.

If you struggle with oily skin, jojoba oil is a good option as it will help to dissolve sebum and will carry healing essential oils deep into the pores without leaving our feeling oily or greasy.

It is good for dry, aging skin because it is deeply nourishing and regenerating.  It is known for firming properties and may improve skin elasticity. Rose hip seed oil is high in essential fatty acids and softens and smooths out the skin beautifully.  It improves the texture of your skin and calms redness and inflammation.  It can also help reduce scarring.

And, not forgetting the wonderful benefits that the other highlighted permeability enhancement agents offer...

Aloe Vera- soothes, especially sun-drenched skin, relieves skin irritations, adds moisture and fights acne, slows signs of aging

Witch Hazel- a powerful anti-inflammatory with astringent properties. Useful in the treatment of acne, helps to shrink pores, and soothe your skin.

MSM- helps reduce inflammation, which can damage skin cells and cause signs of premature aging like wrinkles. Improves skin health by strengthening keratin and could even help reduce symptoms of certain skin conditions.

DMAE- offers anti-aging benefits by reducing the appearance of wrinkles, dark under-eye circles, and sagging neck skin

Hyaluronic Acid- helps reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles retaining moisture to the skin, creating a plumping effect. When the skin is protected and hydrated, increased skin cell production can take place. This leads to smoother, plumper skin cells.

Helichrysum-  a pure essential oil that regenerates nerves, repairs tissue damage and takes away pain.

There you have it, a truly wonderful face lotion. Whether you use it as part of our 5 step face care system, or simply on its own, its got the complex potency to break through barriers of great skincare.

Give it a try! Here's our gift to you!!
